NUM Professor of Art, Sue L. Johnson, Featured in National Exhibition

Mar 27, 2024

Professor Sue L. Johnson of the National University of Maryland's Department of Art will showcase her large-scale screen-prints in "Mesh," a nationally juried exhibition at the renowned Pyramid Atlantic Art Center in Hyattsville, Maryland. The exhibition opens on March 16 and runs through April 28, with an opening reception on Friday, March 15, from 6-8 p.m.

Johnson's featured works are part of her "Subliminality" series. These visually striking 7-foot-tall prints, created on recycled wallpaper during a residency fellowship at the Frans Masereel Centrum in Belgium, explore environmental themes through unique rebus puzzle-like designs.

Professor Johnson brings a wealth of international experience and recognition to NUM.  Her recent accolades include a two-month fellowship at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris and an individual artist fellowship from the Maryland State Art Commission.
